PARKS- MY STORY
After a weekend filled with specualtion Match Report has been able to bring you the official story from the man at the centre of the storm, Matthew Parks, the "disgraced" Knocknamuckley BB U18 manager. This is his story, exclusively to Match Report.
Spain
After painstaking safety measures were put in place to ensure the well being of Parks, he was happy to speak to Match Report via video link from his hide-away in Spain. "Myself and Dawson have both decided to get out of the country for a while in order to distance ourselves from the intense media specualtion, but also to allow things to simmer down. The KMAG have been in contact with me before I left for Spain, but they hold no fear for me. Violence will not offer a solution to this situation, however I feel that keeping Dawson away from the militant group will greatly reduce the number of casualties."
Dawson
When questioned about Dawson selling his story to the News of the World, Parks' expression changed slightly. Despite some surprising revelations being revealed about the relationship of the management duo, during their time in charge of the team Parks insists that no grudge exists between the two. "Listen... there is no bad blood between myself and Keith. We've been a partnership now for the last four years, and we know how to work with each other, we know each others strenghs and weakness's and we're a good combination. With regards to the story in the paper... I was as shocked as the next man, but we've sat down there this morning, and we've talked about it. I understand where he was coming from. We had just recieved the news, via the media I might add, that we had been relieved of our duties at Muckley, the News of the World phoned him and offered him cash for a story, and he couldn't say no. We're in hard financial times at the moment, and I'm not going to hold it against anyone for not turning down good money for a story, especially as thespare cash from the deal is helping to fund our hideaway in Spain for the time being."
Allegations
The official line from the board of directors has been that Dawson and Parks were involved in fraudulant behaviour during the team break on the north coast. Surprisingly Parks seems wuite amused by this suggestion, "Funny when you think about it isn't it?" After a pause he continues, "I've been stitched up. It's as simple as that. My lawyers are looking into the situation at the minute. I assume that I will have to defend myself in court if these allegations are brought to the police, but I'm ready for that. After that I have to decide the next course of action, whether it be appealing against unfair dismissal or suing for lible, time will tell. Whoever is behind these bogus claims must have the backbone of a frog." At this point a man enters the picture to whisper in Parks' ear, before Parks declares that he has nothing more to say on the matter.
Sacked
"Four trophies in four years followed swifly by the boot, its obvious that I have been undermined by someone from within the set-up. Since my sacking it has also become apparent that some of the senior pros were already standing behind me with the knife. Colin Irwin has thrown his hat into the ring, while Seth Mathers was also very quick to cosy up to Venard when he left his post at the Methodist." Mathers recently was appointed as captain by Parks for a game against Lurgan BBOB, although the Spanish papers suggested that he is now being investigated along with Jimmy Cowan of match fixing in that game, when the two of them contrived to concede five goals in suspicious circumstances.
The Future
The future remains unsure for both Parks and Dawson. "We're not rushing into anything. We all know that this is silly season in the local press and the smallest sniff of a story gets blown out of proportion. Me and Dawson are prepared to wait til the whole story blows and are still hopeful of being reinstated to the hotseat at Muckley and being allowed to continue our rebuilding process and deliver more trophies. I was speaking to Nathan McConnell (currently the most valuable player within the squad) and he assured us that me and Dawson still had his full suppport. I still haven't spoken to the board of directors directly, and we will see where we stand after that comes about. We will leave the courting of the media to the likes of Mal Harrison and Alan Shearer for the time being."
