U-14 Portadown Battalion Tug-of-War
07/03/2009

The Battalion Tug-of-War competition took place in Tartarahagn on Saturday night. This is not a sport which is overly popular in Knocknamuckley, but they were pleased to be able to enter a team in the competition for the first time in a number of years. Each game consisting a best-of-three contest, with six boys compromising a team.

v 1st Tullyallen & Mountnorris

Knocknamuckley got of to a good start in their first match against Mountnorris and won their first game, before taking the second as well, to claim an opening 2-0 win.

Result 1st Knocknamuckley 2 v 0 1st Tullyallen & Mountnorris

v 1st Ahorey

The second match came against Ahorey, and this time the Muckley boys were unable to match their efforts from the first match and slipped to their first defeat.

Result 1st Knocknamuckley 0 v 2 1st Ahorey

v 1st Drumcree

Drumcree were next up for Muckley, and they managed to get back to winning ways.

Result 1st Knocknamuckley 2 v 0 1st Drumcree

v 1st Charlemont

Knocknamuckley continued to impress with their final group game, producing another victory.

Result 1st Knocknamuckley 2 v 0 1st Charlemont

Semi Final
v 7th Portadown

In the semi final Muckley met 7th Portadown. Unfortunately Knocknamuckley’s brute force was unable to match the technique of the Portadown boys, and they exited the competition.

Result Knocknamuckley 0 v 2 7th Portadown

This was an impressive display from the Knocknamuckley team, who had to be heavily persuaded to take part, but ultimately enjoyed the experience, and put in a great showing.

Team: T.Adamson, Black, Chambers, Lennon, Stewart, Uprichard.
