U-15 Battalion 5-a-side Tournament
06/12/2008
The Battalion 5-a-side again competition took place in Dungannon, on the state of the art indoor astro-turf surface.
Semi Final
v 1st Ahorey
In the semi final Muckley came up against Ahorey. This was a remarkably tight game for a -a-side clash, with limited chances for both sides. In the end it took a great goal, courtesy of Joshua Black to seperate the sides and put Knocknamuckley in the final.
Full Time: 1st Knocknamuckley 1 v 0 1st Ahorey
Final
v 7th Portadown
The final turned out to be an even tighter affair, as old rivals 7th Portadown and Knocknamuckley tried to get the better of each other. With the defnce and goalkeepers of both sides making themselves hard to beat the game finished at 0-0 and extra-time was required.
Normal Time: 1st Knocknamuckley 0 v 0 7th Portadown
Extra time failed to produce a goal for either side, and so the tournament needed penalties to determine a winner.
Extra-time: 1st Knocknamuckley 0 v 0 7th Portadown
Portadown took first in the shoot-out and tucked their first penalty away. Nathan McConnell was first up for Muckley but was unfortunate to miss. Portadown scored their second, to pile on the pressure, but Ian Irwin dealt with the pressure to keep Knocknamuckley in touch. Portadown missed their third penalty allowing Brooke Love the chance to level the scores and he made no mistake. Portadown missed again, which handed Muckley the initiative as John Uprichard put his side 3-2 up after 4 penalties. The fifth Portadown penalty taker stepped up knowing that a miss would hand the title to Knocknamuckley, but under this pressure he maintained his composure to level the scores. Muckley had anotherr chance to win it, but Lawson McKitterick was unable to convert his spot kick. So after 5 penalties the two sides were still inseperable, so sudden death was needed. Portadown scored, meaning that Muckley needed to score to stay in it. Muckley's goalkeeper, Peter Stewart stepped up, but was not able to replicate his goalkeeping form, and 7th Portadown were crowned Portadown Battalion champions.
Penalties: 1st Knocknamuckley 3 v 4 7th Portadown
Team- Stewart, McKitterick, Black, I.Irwin, Uprichard, Love, McConnell, Chambers.

| Having lost narrowly in the final in a penalty shoot out, it later emerged that 7th Portadown had fielded an illegible player, as he was over the stated age limit. Because of this, 7th Portadown were naturally disqualified, and 1st Knocknamuckley were awarded the trophy. |
