U-14 National 5-a-side
(Round 1)
28/11/2008

Knocknamuckley made the long trip to Ardstraw for the first round of the National 5-a-side competition

v 7th Portadown

Having made the long trip, Muckley's first game found them up against near rivals 7th Portadown. John Uprichard gave Knocknamuckley the early iniative with a volleyed finish and then doubled his tally when he broke free and cooly slid his shot past the keeper. The Methodist did manage to pull one back, but it was a case of too little, too late.

Full Time: 1st Knocknamuckley 2 v 1 7th Portadown

v 2nd Castlederg
Next up for Muckley were 2nd Castlederg. Knocknamuckley put in a fine display with the Castlederg side unable to deal with Ian Irwin who scores a great quick fire hat-trick. Andrew Connolly who was making his debut for Muckley in this tournament pitched in with a goal, and John Uprichard carried on where he left off in the last game, getting on the scoresheet.

Full Time: 1st Knocknamuckley 5 v 0 2nd Castlederg

v Newtonbreda

A third win from three would secure Muckley's progression into the next stage of the National competition and they diod not dissappoint, with another two goals from the in-form Irwin, and another clean-sheet.

Full Time: 1st Knocknamuckley 2 v 0 Newtonbreda

v 1st Ardstraw

The final game saw Knocknamucley take on the hosts, and saw them fall behind for the first time of the evening. Andrew Connolly popped to level the scores and maintain his sides unbeaten record.

Full Time: 1st Knocknamuckley 1 v 1 1st Ardstraw

This performance means that the U-14 side will progress to the next round of the competition, where they will be hoping to reach the Irish Final for the second year in a row.

Team- Stewart, Chambers, T.Adamson, I.Irwin, Uprichard, Connolly, Stringer.
