U-14 v Magherlin B
(7-a-side, League Stage)
21/11/2006

Knocknamuckley had another tough match in the 7-a-side on Tuesday night, against Margherlin B. Although Muckley had beaten Margherlin A heavily in their previous match, it has been the “B” team which has had the better results of the Magherlin teams, so far. Having won their first two games in the competition, this was a game which Muckley needed to get something out of in order to keep their run going, especially with their match the following week being one of their toughest.

Things didn’t go to plan when Muckley conceded a goal in the first quarter of the game.

Muckley responded to the challenge and struck back midway through the first half with an equaliser from Andy Poole, who’s turning into the team’s goal machine, with four goals, (all against Margherlin sides), in the last two games.

Knocknamuckley’s keeper, Chris Falloon was forced off with an injured leg early in the second half. Peter Stewart was the man to take the gloves in his place. With it very important not to concede in the second half, this was a difficult time to enter the game for a keeper, never mind make your debut.

The second half was a very tight affair, with Muckley just shading it on chances. Pooley managed to hit the base of the post late on, with Neil Spence getting to the rebound, when he was unlucky to fire into the side netting.

With Muckley unable to grab the lead and Peter Stewart equipping himself very well: keeping a clean sheet since his introduction, the game ended in a 1-1 draw- a fair result for both sides, which both would probably have settled for before the game.
