Knocknamuckley hosted the Irish Final of the National Table Tennis Competition, where they hosted 56th Belfast. Knocknamuckley came into this tie full of confidence after impressive victories over 120th Belfast and 4th Glengormley.
The first round of games saw three relatively comfortable victories, two for Knocknamuckley and one for Belfast. Stephen Russell won his game without dropping a set, while Gregg Harrison only conceded one set in his match. Andrew Poole lost out 3-0 after a very impressive display from his opponent.

Knocknamuckley held a one point advantage after the first set of games, and this was soon stretched as Gregg Harrison won the first three games of his match for a comfortable win. Stephen Russell also got his second victory of the night with a 3-1 victory. The closest match of the evening so far was played on table 3, Andrew Poole eventually wrapping up a final set victory which clinched Knocknamuckley the title, giving them an unassailable 5-1 lead.

The last round of games could have no affect on the final outcome of the match. Stephen Russell and Gregg Harrison made it three wins out of three, with 3-0 and 3-1 wins respectively, while Andrew Poole won in the final set in the other match, wrapping up an emphatic victory.

For the first time in the history of the company, Knocknamuckley table tennis team received the title of Irish Champions, and were presented with their medals and the trophy. They now travel over to Kirkham in England in less than a month’s time to compete in the UK National Finals. After such an impressive display they will go over brimming with confidence, with there being no reason that they cannot come home with the title.
