U-15 Battalion 5-a-side Tournament
18/12/2007

The Battalion 5-a-side again competition took place in Annaghmore, with Knocknamuckley being drawn in a group of four, with the top two teams progressing to the semi-finals.

v Annaghmore/Tartarahagn

Knocknamuckley began with a game against the hosts. Knocknamuckley took a two goal lead through goals from Andrew Poole, and Matthew Kimmins. Despite dominating this match, and Annaghmore/Tartarahagn hardly breaching the half way line, Muckley failed to add to their two goals, wasting numerous chances, and playing at a very slow tempo.

Full Time: Knocknamuckley 2 v 0 Annaghmore/Tartarahagn

v Milltown

Knocknamuckley took on Milltown in their second match. In a tight match Knocknamuckley probably deserved the win, hitting the post on two occasions.

Full Time: Knocknamuckley 0 v 0 Milltown

v 7th Portadown

Knocknamuckley knew that they would need a draw in their final match to progress, and came up against 7th Portadown. This was another even match, with chances falling to both Muckley, and the Methodist. Knocknamuckley hit the post on two occasions, but were again unable to convert chances. The game finished scoreless allowing Muckley to progress in second place.

Full Time: Knocknamuckley 1 v 1 7th Portadown

Semi Final
v Richill

In the semi final Muckley met Richill, who had qualified as winners of their group.

Knocknamuckley started brightly with Nathan McConnell putting in a very impressive performance. Muckley took the lead through an excellent Brooke Love strike. Richill hit back with an equaliser to take the game to extra time.

Normal Time: Knocknamuckley 1 v 1 Richill

In extra time Richill went ahead to lead 2-1. Knocknamuckley could have grabbed an equaliser at the death, but Andrew Poole was unable to convert his chance, and Richill progressed to the final.

Full Time: Knocknamuckley 1 v 2 Richill

Team- Stewart, Lamont, Black, Poole, McConnell, Kimmins, Love.
