Knocknamuckley were drawn at home in the Irish Semi Final against 7th Portadown, who made the short trip over to Knocknamuckley on Friday night.
The first round of matches saw Stephen Russell winning his match, whilst both of his team mates, Neill Adamson and Andrew Calvert lost out in their games.
1st Round 1st Knocknamuckley 1 v 2 7th Portadown
With Portadown taking the early advantage, another poor round would leave Knocknamuckley facing elimination from the competition. Fortunately, for the home company, Russell, Calvert and Adamson all managed to beat their opponents in this set of games, to give them the advantage going into the last round of matches.
2nd Round 1st Knocknamuckley 4 v 2 7th Portadown
Knocknamuckley needed to win one of the final three games to progress, and managed this. Russell completed his third win in three games, while Neill Adamson also won his match, with Calvert losing on this occasion.
Final Result 1st Knocknamuckley 6 v 3 7th Portadown
This puts Knocknamuckley into the Irish Chess Final, where they will play 58th Belfast away from home.
