U-18 v 2nd/3rd Lurgan (7-a-side)

U-18 v 2nd/3rd Lurgan
(7-a-side, League Stage)
30/10/2007

Knocknamuckley were looking to bounce back from a defeat against Ahorey in their last outing, and try and get some form going coming into the knock outs. Unfortunately it was difficult to get any sort of rhythm going with the mismatch between the two sides.

Muckley took the lead in the first minute when Stuart Campbell bent his shot into the bottom corner from a long ball. Soupy then got a second in the following minute form a Gregg Harrison pass, and tucked away another from a Harrison cross for his hat-trick within five minutes.

Harrison scored his first off the match from a Steven Russell pass, soon after.

Lurgan tried to get back into the game, and forced too goo saves from Muckley keeper, Seth Mathers. Mathers got down well to his right to turn a well struck low shot around the post, and reacted brilliantly a few minutes later to stretch out a leg to deny a similar effort from closer range.

Harrison increased the lead from an Andy Calvert pass out of defence, and Campbell added another, again from a Harrison cross.

Simon Grey, who was impressive at the back, got on the scoresheet with a smart strike.

Harrison added another before half time, and Soupy took his tally to five.

The second half was a slightly tighter affair, but Muckley again opened the scoring with an excellent finish from Colly Irwin from a cutback by Harrison.

Harrison bagged another, before another fine save from Mathers, as a Lurgan forward rushed in on goal.

Lurgan got their only goal of the game to make the score slightly more respectable, with a nice finish from their forward.

Harrison got his best goal of the game with a nicely timed volley, and added one more to finish on 6.

Campbell, unsurprisingly rounded off the scoring with two more goals.

Despite this obviously being an easy game for Knocknamuckley regardless of performance, there was still obvious signs of improvement, as their passing was much better, and hopefully they can carry this into the more challenging fixtures.
