Chess v 39th Dublin
16/01/2009
(National Competition, Irish Quarter Final)

Defending Irish Champions Knocknamuckley were drawn away from home in the first match of their defence, having to make the long trip down to play 39th Dublin. Andrew Calvert was no longer eligible to play due to the age restrictions, and so was replaced in the side by Thomas Adamson.

Knocknamuckley made the perfect start with Neill Adamson and Stephen Russell winning their games, while Thomas Adamson also won his first game on his début.

1st Round
39th Dublin 0 v 3  1st Knocknamuckley

Knocknamuckley continued to impress, and again managed to win all three of their games, and with it the match.

2nd Round
39th Dublin 0 v 6  1st Knocknamuckley

In the final round of games Knocknamuckley continued their dominance and maintained their 100% record in this match with another three wins.

Final Result 39th Dublin 0 v 9 1st Knocknamuckley

This couldn't have been a better start to the season for the chess side, particularly pleasing as Thomas Adamson slotted into the side seamlessly. Knocknamuckley will now wait to see who they face in the semi finals, and may already have one eye on another trip to the UK National Finals were they would hope to go one step better than last year and win the ultimate prize in BB Chess.

Team: N.Adamson, T.Adamson, Russell.
