U-14 v Drumcree/Milltown
(7-a-side, League Stage)
16/09/2007

Knocknamuckley met the combined team of Drumcree and Milltown in their second match of this season’s 7-a-side competition, with Knocknamuckley having won their first match, and Drumcree/Milltown having lost their opener.

The match started at a frantic pace, with end to end football and both teams looking to attack from the start. It was Drumcree/Milltown who nearly broke the deadlock, but Ian Irwin did well to cover behind his keeper and clear the shot off the line.

It was then Irwin who put Muckley infront after a lovely interchange of passes with John Uprichard put him through on goal to put Knocknamuckley 1 up.

Ian increases the lead soon after with his fourth goal of the competition so far.

Despite Drumcree/Milltown pulling a goal back, Knocknamuckley went in at the break with a two goal cushion thanks to a goal by John Uprichard. Some fine individual play by Irwin took him into a shooting position, but before he was able to pull the trigger he was fouled. The referee righly played advantage as Uprichard swooped to tap the ball home.

Half time 1st Knocknamuckley 3 v 1 Drumcree/Milltown

The second half really saw Muckley up their game, with some excellent attacking play.

Joshua Black scored a lovely goal, after playing a one-two with Brooke Love, before finishing for a rare goal for the centre back.

Knocknamuckley piled on the pressure, which resulted in a corner kick. Uprichard took the corner, picking out Neill Adamson at the backpost. Noker met the ball perfectly, with a powerful header into the bottom corner.

Brooke Love also got on the scoresheet after beating a number of defenders before finishing to increase the lead, and Black got another goal to add to his previous effort.

Irwin completed his hat trick to cap a fine, man of the match performance from the recruit.
