Knocknamuckley were drawn at home in the 1st Round of their defence of the title that they won last season. The team which became Irish Champions last year, were all still eligible and so Knocknamuckley had high expectations going into this years competition. The opponents were 3rd Ballyclare, who had to cope without their best player, who was unavailable.

In the first round of matches Andrew Poole and Stephen Russell both won their games, both by the margin of 3-0. Gregg Harrison lost a tight game, going down in the deciding set.

1st Round 1st Knocknamuckley 2 v 1 3rd Ballyclare

The second lot of games saw Harrison bounce back from his opening defeat with a 3-0 win. Andrew Poole won his second game, again without dropping a set. Russell this time was unable to overcome his opponent and went down 3-1. This gave Muckley a 4-2 lead, meaning that one victory in the final set of games would see them awarded the match.

2nd Round 1st Knocknamuckley 4 v 2 3rd Ballyclare

In the final matches of the tie Andrew Poole lost his first match of the evening, 3-0, which kept Ballyclare in the game. However, Gregg Harrison and Stephen Russell, both won their second games of the match, 3-0, and with it the match for Knocknamuckley.

Final Result 1st Knocknamuckley 6 v 3 3rd Ballyclare

This was a good performance from the Muckley team, each winning two games, and means they progress into the next round.
